Roles and Responsibilities:
Understands, supports and promotes the mission, vision and values of Organization.
Provides age appropriate patient care according to the Nursing Scope of Practice as defined by the regulatory body.
Provides professional leadership through the supervision of the patient care team, and the maintenance of clinical standards and quality of patient care within the unit during their shift
Adheres to and promotes the Professional Nurses Code of Conduct for Abu Dhabi.
Promotion of health and delivery of health education.
Ensuring the provision of optimum clinical care, customer satisfaction and patient safety.
Oncology/Hematology Specialized clinical tasks:
Provides triage of walk-in patients and effectively monitors patient flow within the facility while prioritizing treatment based on patient needs
Actively monitors and teaches junior nurses in the assessment and triage process
Actively participates in patient education throughout the patient visit
Ensures appropriate and timely attendance of the patients by all members of the healthcare team
Monitors, acts on and reports any delays within the patient journey
Monitors and updates all clinic staff including physicians of waiting times and performance against Key performance indictors on a monthly bases
Coordinates daily admission for outpatient Chemotherapy / infusion services including physician’s order, laboratory investigations and patient follow up
Prepares files for presentation at weekly tumor board as directed by physician lead and participates in the board
Demonstrates specialized nursing theoretical knowledge and skills in management of oncology diseases and related procedures
Explains the toxic effects of chemotherapeutic agents to the patients and the family; serves as a resource person for patients, nurses and other health care team members from both outpatients and inpatients
Recognizes and accepts the role and responsibilities as an integral member of the oncology/ hematology and rheumatology teams.
Education and Experience requirements:
Bachelor degree in nursing
Valid license to practice
BLS
Desired:
International accreditation experience
Experience required:
Not less than 4 years’ clinical experience in a tertiary healthcare facility
Not less than 2 years’ experience as a Charge Nurse/Shift Lead in Oncology/Haematology.
