Dr. Fathalla obtained his medical degree from Damascus University Medical School and completed his Paediatric Residency at Henry Ford Hospital in 1997, in which he gained an American Board General Paediatrics certification. He then completed a 3-year child neurology residency at Texas Children’s Hospital/Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas (1997-2000). He holds American board certification in neurology with a special qualification in children’s neurology.
Furthermore, Dr. Fathallah’s areas of specialised interest include critical care neurology, neurometabolic/neurogenetic disorders, end-of-life care and Islamic bioethics. In addition to his medical accomplishments, he holds a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Islamic Science. Dr. Fathalla served as programme director in the paediatric residency programme (2017-2022). He is currently an associate programme director of the general paediatric residency.
