The Clinical Imaging Department consists of American and British board-certified neuroradiologists who collaborate closely to re-imagine cure through radiology by providing innovative, state-of-the-art diagnostic and treatment services in a progressive, safe and efficient way.
Our multidisciplinary Clinical Imaging team is experienced in diagnosing and treating a vast spectrum of conditions spanning Neuroradiology, Body Imaging and Musculoskeletal & Sports Imaging.
In terms of Neuroradiology, SSMC is well versed in both routine and complex neuroimaging, including the areas of trauma and stroke, as well as in vascular, neoplastic, inflammatory and metabolic diseases. Moreover, our department has expertise in Head & Neck imaging which is exercised in close collaboration with our ENT and maxillofacial teams, including an integral part of our multidisciplinary Head & Neck cancer team.
When imaging of the Head & Neck is concerned, SSMC also utilizes Ultrasonography (US) as well as US-guided biopsy procedures for conditions like neck lumps and thyroid nodules, which are treated as day cases and performed under local anesthesia. Advanced methods in the characterization of thyroid nodules operate under the American standards which reduce the need for conducting biopsies.
Offering a full range of neuroradiological imaging services, including diagnosing diseases related to the head, neck, brain and spine, SSMC utilizes the primary imaging modalities of Computed Tomography (CT) and Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), as well as the advanced techniques of MR and CT angiography, perfusion imaging and MR spectroscopy. In addition, our Clinical Imaging department utilizes Inflammatory Bowel Disease (Crohns, Ulcerative Colitis) Imaging by means of CT and MR enterography, Prostate Cancer Imaging by using a Multiparametric Prostate MRI, Pelvic floor MR Imaging for weakness and dysfunction, Perineal Imaging for anal fistula and pilonidal sinus, and Adrenal Imaging by utilizing Dynamic CT and MRI scans.
For patients undergoing cochlear implant surgery, pre and post operative imaging is provided to best ensure the right course of action, treatment and care. In terms of evaluating spinal stenosis, disc herniation, fractures and degenerative conditions when spinal imaging is required, SSMC's Clinical Imaging department is fully equipped with the necessary apparatus, advanced technologies and specialized team to ascertain the most appropriate course of treatment.
For patients in need of pediatric neuroimaging, our dedicated team of experts is able to provide the highest standards of expertise and care, ensuring the best possible treatment plan for your child.
SSMC's Clinical Imaging department consists of a multidisciplinary team with expertise in the areas of: Trauma radiology with Interventional radiology (IR), Hepatic-Pancreatic biliary Radiology with IR, Complex body MRI, and Colorectal Radiology including the use of a CT Virtual colonography. In the case of complex cases, radiological and surgical combined procedures, a multi speciality and multi-modality approach is taken.
SSMC's Clinical Imaging department utilizes a full spectrum of imaging modalities including radiography, fluoroscopy, MRI, CT scans, ultrasonography, and nuclear medicine to diagnose musculoskeletal problems such as arthritis, sports injuries, trauma, recurrent strain injuries, soft tissue and bone tumors.
Specializing in a range of image-guided procedures and minimally invasive pain management therapies, should the individual case permit it, an alternative treatment to surgery can be provided.
Image-guided procedures include:
In terms of imaging regarding breast related conditions and procedures, SSMC provides:
With the utilization of efficient and modern technology within SSMC's advanced facilities, the diagnosis and treatment of the most complex cases are ensured.
