Clinical Observership Program for Medical Students

The Medical Student Education Center at Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City offers a clinical observership program designed for medical students who wish to gain exposure to various medical specialties and observe healthcare delivery in a world-class medical facility. The program provides a unique opportunity for students to interact with experienced healthcare professionals and learn from their expertise.

    • Duration: Up to four (4) weeks
    • Eligibility: Medical students currently enrolled in an accredited medical school who have completed at least six (6) months of clinical experience.
    • Application Process: Submit an application through the online portal website at least eight (8) weeks prior to the desired start date.
    • Provide medical students with an opportunity to observe and learn from experienced healthcare professionals in a clinical setting.
    • Expose medical students to various medical specialties and healthcare delivery systems
    • Enhance students’ understanding of patient care, medical decision-making, and interprofessional collaboration
    • Encourage students to develop their professional skills, including communication, teamwork, and professionalism.
    • Observers will be assigned to specific departments based on their interests and availability.
    • Observers will follow a schedule that includes attending rounds, observing clinical procedures, and participating in educational activities.
    • Observers will have the opportunity to interact with healthcare professionals, including physicians, nurses, and allied health staff.
    • Observers will be required to complete an orientation session and adhere to all SSMC policies and guidelines.
    • Observers who successfully complete the observership program will receive a certificate of completion.
