Dr. Iftikhar Suleman, F.R.C.S., F.E.B.P.S., F.A.C.S., F.R.C.S. Ed, F.C.P.S., is a paediatric surgery and paediatric urology consultant at Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City (SSMC) in Abu Dhabi. He is also the chair of the paediatric surgery division, paediatric surgery residency programme director, paediatric trauma lead and adjunct clinical professor of surgery for Khalifa University.
With more than 33 years of paediatric surgery experience at the most prestigious institutions in the UK, Pakistan, Japan and UAE, Dr. Suleman has earned fellowships in several esteemed societies and institutions. He is a member of several paediatric surgical societies. A fellow of esteemed societies, including the Royal College of Surgeons (F.R.C.S.), UK, and the American College of Surgeons (F.A.C.S.), USA, Dr. Suleman is a respected authority in his field. His extensive contributions to over 77 research publications, encompassing book chapters in paediatric surgery textbooks, showcase his commitment to advancing medical knowledge. Dr. Suleman’s proficiency spans a wide array of paediatric surgical procedures, including general paediatric surgery, neonatal surgery, paediatric urology, endourology and genital reconstructive surgery. Other areas of interest are minimally invasive surgery for complex conditions like hepatobiliary surgery, pancreatic surgery and thoracic surgery. As an active member of international paediatric surgical societies, he continues to impact the field. Dr. Suleman’s professional journey includes roles as a clinical professor of surgery at Khalifa University, UAE. He is actively involved as a trainer, assessor and examiner for prestigious institutions. Recognised for his outstanding contributions, he has received awards such as the UAE Distinguished Surgeon Award and the SEHA Best Employee Award.
