Dr. Kamran Mahmood, M.B.B.S., M.R.C.P.C.H., F.R.C.P.C.H., CCT Paediatric Rheumatology UK, is a consultant with the division of paediatric rheumatology at Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City (SSMC), in Abu Dhabi.

Dr. Kamran Mahmood is a UK-trained paediatric rheumatologist with extensive experience in managing a diverse range of paediatric rheumatological conditions. Having completed his specialised training, he later served as a consultant at Alder Hey Children’s Hospital, UK. Dr. Mahmood’s clinical interests include juvenile idiopathic arthritis, juvenile lupus, scleroderma, periodic fevers, chronic non-bacterial osteomyelitis, Bechet’s disease, macrophage activation syndromes, MIS-C, mechanical pain and hypermobility syndromes. He is internationally recognised for his academic contributions, particularly in the field of inflammatory bone disease. As a principal investigator, Dr. Mahmood has led numerous national and international clinical trials and cohort studies, publishing over 35 papers in peer-reviewed journals. His work has been showcased at prestigious international meetings such as the Paediatric Rheumatology European Society, American College of Rheumatology, and the European Alliance of Associations for Rheumatology, among others. Passionate about medical education, Dr. Mahmood enjoys teaching and mentoring trainees, medical students and allied health professionals. He also held a formal role as a College Tutor for the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health (RCPCH) and is a programme director for the Paediatric Rheumatology Fellowship Programme at SSMC.
