Blood transfusion is a potentially life-saving procedure that can help replace blood lost due to surgery or injury. It can also be used if an illness prevents the body from making blood.
Our team of North American and European Board Certified expert hematologists and oncologists utilize advanced technologies and state-of-the-art techniques to provide comprehensive patient-centric care.
How is the procedure performed?
During the procedure, donated blood is inserted into the patient’s body through an intravenous (IV) line with a needle which is inserted into one of the blood vessels. This procedure usually takes one to four hours, and the patient is required to be seated or lying down during the transfusion.
A nurse continuously monitors the patient and takes measures of the blood pressure, temperature, and heart rate.
