With over a decade of experience in internal medicine, Dr. Hashim possesses a broad spectrum of expertise in managing patients with various complexities and co-morbidities. A specialist with a keen interest in breast disease management and breast cancer prevention, Dr. Hashim worked at the prestigious Wythenshawe Hospital’s Nightingale Centre in Manchester. This centre is recognised as the largest breast unit in Europe, where she collaborated with leading experts in hereditary breast cancer prevention. Her areas of expertise encompass breast disease diagnostics, breast cancer risk assessment for women with a family history of breast cancer, personalised risk management through lifestyle modifications, screening, risk-reducing endocrine treatment, and managing menopause, including drug-induced menopause symptoms.
Dr. Hashim further honed her skills and leadership capabilities by completing the NHSE GP fellowship programme, where she developed teaching and mentoring skills. Her commitment to improving healthcare quality led her to serve as the Primary Care Network Cancer lead. In this role, she spearheaded quality improvement projects focused on enhancing early cancer diagnosis by improving cancer screening uptake, raising cancer awareness, and engaging patients, particularly those at a higher risk of developing cancer.
