Dr. Ismail is a consultant neurologist with extensive experience in treating multiple sclerosis (MS) and related disorders. She has expertise in the management of headache disorders, epilepsy, motor neurone disease and other neurological conditions.
She completed her Ph.D. in 2016 where her research focused on gene therapy using viral vectors in motor neurone disease. Dr. Ismail completed her neurology training in Sheffield and was appointed as a consultant where she worked with a multidisciplinary MS team based at the Royal Hallamshire Hospital in Sheffield, UK.
Dr. Ismail has a particular interest in pregnancy and women’s health in MS and has won multiple prestigious national awards for her achievements in the field.
In addition to her clinical roles, Dr. Ismail was the Neurology Training Programme Director (2020-2025) for the Foundation and Internal Medicine Trainees, overseeing their neurology training and ensuring they receive high quality education, support, and guidance throughout their training.
Dr. Ismail’s main areas of research interest are neuro-inflammation in MS, therapeutic clinical trials in MS, autologous haematopoietic stem cell transplantation and women’s health in MS. She is a Principal Investigator in several clinical trials and has published in many peer-reviewed journals and presented her work in national and international meetings.
