Dr. Naser is a highly experienced ophthalmology consultant and vitreoretinal surgeon. With 25 years of expertise in the field, his specialisation encompasses the management of complex medical and surgical retina, uveitis, and glaucoma.
He holds a medical degree from Arabian Gulf University in Bahrain and has pursued extensive training and fellowships at esteemed institutions in the UK and Singapore. He is a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and the International Council of Ophthalmology, in addition to being Arab Board-certified.
His rich clinical background includes work in both public and private hospitals in Bahrain, where he has performed over 3000 retinal surgeries and 5000 cataract surgeries. Dr. Naser’s surgical skills cover a comprehensive range of procedures, including: Intricate retinal surgeries (vitrectomy, scleral buckle, laser, and pneumatic retinopexy), various cataract surgeries (phacoemulsification, extracapsular and small incision techniques, secondary intraocular lens implantations), retinopathy of prematurity screening and management, complex glaucoma surgeries (glaucoma drainage device implantations), all laser procedures (argon laser photocoagulation, yag laser capsulotomy and iridotomy), trauma case management (penetrating eye injuries and removal of intraocular foreign bodies), and the diagnosis and management of ocular malignancies (including ocular lymphoma and choroidal melanoma).
In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Naser has held significant academic and leadership positions, including Head of Department at Tawam Hospital, Sheikh Tahnoon Medical City, and Abu Dhabi Healthcare Company (SEHA) between 2024-2025. He has also served as Head of Department at Salmaniya Medical Complex, Ministry of Health, Bahrain (2017-2021), and Head of Residency Programmes, Ministry of Health, Bahrain (2015-2016).
He has also been actively involved in teaching and training medical students as a Senior Clinical Professor at the Royal College of Surgeons of Ireland, Bahrain (2017-2020) and a Senior Clinical Tutor at Arabian Gulf University, Bahrain (2015-2017). Furthermore, he is a renowned speaker at international conferences and has authored numerous scientific publications.
Dr. Naser’s dedication and expertise have been recognised through several prestigious awards, including the Leadership Award from the Bahrain Institute of Public Administration (BIPA), the Excellence and Achievement Award from the Minister of Health, Bahrain, the Fellow of the Year Award with Gold Medal from the Singapore Medical Council, and the Excellence in Preventing Blindness Award from the World Health Organization (WHO).
