Dr. Almessabi is a consultant gastroenterologist with almost 20 years of experience, diagnosing and treating various digestive system disorders. He graduated from the Medical School of the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland in 2001, trained in Gastroenterology at McGill University in Canada, and got Canadian and American Board-certified in gastroenterology in 2010. Additionally, he pursued a fellowship in advanced endoscopy and endoscopic ultrasound in Paris and completed an executive master’s degree in health care administration at Zayed University.
He served as the Acting Chief Medical Officer (CMO) at SSMC from November 2019 to early 2024, setting an example in leadership and forward thinking. Prior to this, he occupied many leadership roles including deputy CMO at Mafraq Hospital in Abu Dhabi, achieving an impressive 99.8% JCI accreditation. He was also chair of SEHA Medical Council and chair of the Department of Gastroenterology in Mafraq Hospital.
Dr. Almessabi’s leadership roles reflect his commitment to enhancing healthcare services and implementing advanced medical practices. His contributions extend to publications, emphasising his expertise in managing hepatitis C infections and liver-related conditions.
