Non-Clinical Internship Programme
At Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City (SSMC), we believe excellence in healthcare depends on both clinical innovation and non-clinical expertise. The Non-Clinical Internship Programme is designed for students and recent graduates seeking hands-on exposure to the dynamic operations behind one of the UAE’s leading hospitals.
This internship opportunity offers practical experience in fields such as finance, HR, marketing, IT, quality, planning, biomedical engineering, and more – all while working alongside experienced professionals in real healthcare settings.
Programme Objectives
Offer interns a real-world understanding of hospital operations, administration, and support services
Foster critical thinking, communication, and collaboration in professional environments
Provide project-based assignments relevant to each department’s functions
Encourage career pathways in healthcare system management, and more
Programme Duration
One to six weeks (minimum one week required)
Monday to Thursday, 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Flexible and coordinated with each department
Who can Apply?
- University students currently enrolled in a relevant undergraduate or postgraduate course
- Recent graduate (within 12 months of graduation)
To be eligible, applicants must:
- Be pursuing a major related to the department they are applying for
- Have strong English communication skills (written and spoken)
- Be in good academic standing (GPA >= 2.5 or equivalent)
- Be able to attend the full internship period on-site
Note: You may specify your preferred department during the application process. Final placement will be based on your academic background, interest, and departmental availability.

Application Checklist
Programme Onboarding
Receive a conditional acceptance letter, official start date, and next steps
Be required to complete a security clearance check. All instructions will be provided
Be required to attend mandatory onboarding session
Receive department details and assigned supervisor
Sign an SSMC confidentiality agreement
Non-Clinical Internship Programme Expectations
Demonstrate professionalism and punctuality
Complete all assigned tasks and projects
Collaborate respectfully with staff, supervisors, and peers
Attend any necessary departmental workshops or training
Completion and Recognition
Upon successful completion of the Internship programme:
- Interns will receive a Certificate of Completion from SSMC
- Interns may be asked to complete a short feedback survey
- The internship may lead to future employment opportunities
