Diagnostic laryngoscopy/videostroboscopy is a minimally invasive procedure used to diagnose voice disorders including, laryngitis.

Our team of North American and European Board Certified expert otolaryngologists utilize diagnostic laryngoscopy/videostroboscopy for the visual examination of the vocal cords and larynx.

How are the procedures performed?

Laryngoscopy

A laryngoscopy is performed using a thin, flexible tube, also known as an endoscope, with an attached camera and light inserted into the patient’s mouth to examine the back of the throat in addition to the larynx and vocal cords.

Videostroboscopy

Videostroboscopy offers a specialized slow motion-like view of vocal fold vibrations using controlled high-speed flashes of light timed to the frequency of the patient’s voice. It allows the clinician to diagnose fine abnormalities in the structure and function of the vocal cords that may not otherwise be noticed during traditional laryngoscopy.
