Dr. Shahzad is a UK board-certified structural and coronary Interventional cardiologist with extensive experience in coronary angioplasty, complex coronary intervention, intravascular imaging, coronary angiography, management of heart attack and coronary artery disease. In addition to completing the UK certificate of consultant training in interventional cardiology, Dr. Shahzad also holds a Ph.D. in interventional cardiology from Imperial College London. In addition, he completed three fellowships in structural (TAVI) and coronary intervention in prestigious UK tertiary care centres in Liverpool, Leeds and Nottingham. Dr. Shahzad delivered one of the UK’s largest clinical trials in coronary intervention (HEAT-PPCI trial). This has become a landmark clinical trial with 500+ citations and changed international guidelines and clinical practices worldwide. He has also received numerous international awards, including the prestigious British Cardiac Interventional Young Investigator Award. More than 50 of his research papers have appeared in peer-reviewed journals of high impact.
