Dr. Masood ur Rahman, MBBS, is a consultant in the Critical Care Department at Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City (SSMC) in Abu Dhabi.

With over 24 years of experience in the field of critical care, Dr. Rahman has a special interest in acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) and end–of–life issues in the intensive care unit.

Dr. Rahman earned his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) from the Dow University of Health Sciences, Pakistan. He completed his medical residency training at the University Hospital at Stonybrook, USA. After finishing his fellowship in Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine from the University Hospital at Stonybrook, he joined King Fahad National Guard Hospital, KSA, in 1999 as a consultant intensivist. He joined Tawam Hospital, UAE, in 2005, where he held various clinical and administrative positions, including Chairman of Critical Care Medicine from 2013 to 2019. In addition, he chaired various hospital committees, including ethics and organ donation.

Dr. Rahman joined SSMC in 2021 as a Consultant Intensivist. He is also the Chairman of the Hospital Organ Donation Committee and leads the Critical Care Department Practice Committee. He has been instrumental in introducing various clinical pathways in critical care.

Dr. Rahman’s work has been published in various peer-reviewed medical journals. He has been invited to speak at numerous local and international conferences.
