Workshop Overview

This workshop is designed to enhance emergency department nursing practice through focused, practical training in acute and critical care. It emphasises rapid assessment, clinical decision-making, and patient safety across high-risk emergency presentations, supporting nurses in delivering timely, effective care from triage to definitive treatment.

Learning Objectives

By the end of the workshop, participants will be able to:

  • Identify clinical red flags and prioritise care using structured triage
  • Interpret key diagnostics, including ABGs and ECGs, to support rapid decisions
  • Recognise and respond to shock, respiratory, cardiac, and trauma emergencies
  • Apply core principles of emergency nursing assessment and intervention
  • Understand the nurse’s role in massive transfusion and trauma management
  • Maintain personal safety and manage workplace violence in the ED
