SSMC Annual Symposium on Recent Advances in Pediatric Surgery

SSMC in partnership with Mayo Clinic, in collaboration with the UAE pediatric Surgery society
Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City, in partnership with Mayo Clinic and the UAE Pediatric Surgical Society, will host its inaugural symposium titled “SSMC Annual Update on Recent Advances in Pediatric Surgery” on Feb. 5, 2022. This hybrid continuing medical education event will offer registration to an unlimited number of virtual attendees and invited guests to attend in person. Throughout the symposium, world-renowned experts in pediatric surgical care will provide talks on the management of complex pediatric surgical cases and updates on scientific advances in pediatric surgery.

The event includes two sessions that will focus on recent developments in pediatric surgical care. The first session will feature lectures from UAE pediatric surgeons on difficult cases and approaches. The second session will bring to light recent advances in the treatment of vascular malformations, with worldwide specialists discussing the latest updates on vascular malformation therapy.

Topics that will be discussed will tackle updates in:

  • The use of artificial intelligence in pediatric surgery
  • Bariatric pediatric surgery
  • Tissue engineering and regenerative medicine
  • Antenatal hydronephrosis
  • The current status of small intestinal transplantation in children
  • Fetal surgery and intervention.
