Nasal and sinus disorders, also known as chronic sinusitis, is a condition that occurs when the spaces inside the nose and head (sinuses) become swollen or inflamed. This condition affects the normal mucus drainage and causes stuffy or congested nose, breathing difficulties, and swelling or tenderness around the eyes.

Chronic sinusitis may be caused due to an infection, growths in the sinuses (nasal polyps), or swelling of the lining of the sinuses and can affect both children and adults.

Our team of North American and European Board Certified expert otolaryngologists offer comprehensive care for common and complex cases of nasal and sinus disorders.

Diagnosis

Our expert otolaryngologists analyze the patient’s history and conduct a comprehensive physical exam in addition to various diagnostic tests to determine the severity of the condition. These may include:

  • MRI
  • CT scan
  • Allergy tests
  • Nasal endoscopy

Treatments

Our physicians offer personalized treatment plans catered to the patient’s individual medical needs. Common treatments for chronic sinusitis include nasal corticosteroids, saline nasal irrigation, oral or injected corticosteroids, and aspirin desensitization treatment.

Antibiotics and immunotherapy may also be utilized to treat a bacterial infection or allergy, contributing to sinusitis. However, severe cases of nasal and sinus disorders may require surgical interventions such as endoscopic sinus surgery to relieve nasal blockage and remove polyps or other nasal lesions.
