Dr. Shawa is an American Board-certified consultant endocrinologist and possesses over a decade of experience in the field of diabetes, endocrinology and metabolic disorders. He has a special interest and expertise in endocrine neoplasia (thyroid, pituitary and adrenal tumors). As well as performing thyroid and neck ultrasounds, he also performs ultrasound-guided fine needle aspirations of thyroid nodules and lymph nodes in the neck.

Dr. Shawa is a member of the endocrine society, the American Thyroid Association (ATA) and the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists (AACE).
