Dr. Gardezi is a UK board certified Consultant Cardiologist with expertise in heart failure, cardiomyopathy, cardiac MRI, advanced heart failure, cardiac transplant, adult congenital heart disease, pulmonary hypertension and all aspects of cardiovascular disease (CVD) including the diagnoses, management, primary and secondary prevention of CVD.
Following his initial medical training, Dr. Gardezi completed his subspecialty training in Cardiology from North West London Deanery with rotations at world-leading tertiary cardio-thoracic centers in London & Oxford, including Guys and St Thomas’ Hospital, Royal Brompton Hospital, Harefield Hospital, Imperial College Healthcare Trust and Oxford University Hospitals.
After completing his research fellowship at the Radcliffe Department of Medicine, University of Oxford, Dr. Gardezi won the prestigious Master of Science by Research award for his thesis on the clinical epidemiology of atrial fibrillation in an elderly population cohort and its association with valvular heart disease. His research work has led to numerous national and international presentations and numerous publications in high-impact peer-reviewed Journals.
Dr. Gardezi has a strong interest in teaching. In recognition of his completion of the “Developing Learning and Teaching (DLT)” course at Oxford Learning Institute, he was awarded the “SEDA-PDF Supporting Learning award”. During his many years of teaching undergraduates as well as postgraduate trainees, Dr. Gardezi has received excellent feedback from Oxford University, Kings College London and Imperial College London medical students, as well as postgraduate trainees and the Royal Society of Medicine. In recognition of his teaching expertise and contributions, Dr. Gardezi was awarded membership in the Academy of Medical Educators (MAcadMEd).
Through initiatives such as the “Covid-19 Video Teaching” webinar started by Cardiology NW Thames and sponsored by BJCA & British Cardiovascular Society, Dr. Gardezi also teaches medical professionals both nationally and internationally. Additionally, he teaches higher specialty trainees during training days organized by the Royal College of Physicians and Health Education England, as well as international doctors through APPNA-MERIT.
