As the inaugural recipient of the SSMC Distinguished Clinician Award in 2021, Dr. Khan has 30 years of experience in the field of cardiology. He is a highly regarded and distinguished practitioner in both the UAE and the UK, having completed his specialized training in cardiology at the renowned Papworth Hospital. As a consultant cardiologist at Cheltenham General Hospital, UK, he was appointed as Director of the Cardiac Catheter Laboratory, where he introduced new and complex coronary interventions. His contribution to patient care and service development earned him several Clinical Excellence Awards.

In 2012 he established the Cardiology Department at Burjeel Hospital before moving to Mafraq Hospital. Subsequently, Dr. Khan became the Vice-Chair of the Division of Cardiovascular Medicine at SSMC in 2020.

With his expertise in rotational and laser atherectomy, Dr. Khan has advanced the PCI service and has been awarded consecutive Best Practice PCI Awards at international meetings. Moreover, he speaks regularly at global conferences and is highly regarded by peers as an expert in his domain.
