    • Following the latest evidence-based recommendations, the Nursing Research and Education Department (NRED) aims to appropriately integrate new nurses into the culture, practices and values of the SSMC; thus creating the Nursing Residency Program. New staff nurses at SSMC will be inducted into this six-month program after completing a three-month probationary period.

    • The main objectives of the program are to:

      • Function effectively within nursing and other multidisciplinary teams by using appropriate communication, conflict resolution and critical thinking skills
      • Provide patient-centered care by implementing standards of patient/family education
      • Incorporate evidence-based practice principles when performing practices within their scope of practice
      • Apply quality improvement principles to maintain a culture of safety through the use of proper assessment tools (pain and fall assessment tools) and referral to appropriate support bodies (palliative care consults)
      • Appropriately assimilated into SSMC cultural diversity, violence and escalation and second victim identification principles.
    • Our program utilizes the concept of Impactful Learning and focuses on explaining, expanding, engaging and embedding knowledge attained and transferring them into the clinical setting

    • It is a hybrid learner–paced program whereby learners complete assigned online material and then attend and actively participate in live face-to-face meetings

    • We are also proud to announce that candidates will receive a total of 19 ANCC accredited hours along with 5 Lippincott CE hours.

    • What is The Nursing Clinical Ladder Program?

      • It is a concept based on the understanding that the art of nursing is practiced at different levels of skills and competencies

      • It provides an opportunity for professional development, recognition of performance and enhanced quality of patient care

      • It strives to acknowledge qualities of excellence in clinical practice.

    • 3 levels of clinical practice are identified through Benner’s model “stages of clinical competence” as the framework for the Registered Nurse who demonstrates initiative and progression toward expert clinical skills

    • Through self-assessment, nurses develop a portfolio that demonstrates their level of practice. This includes subjective and objective data that is evaluated by the Clinical Ladder Oversight Committee

    • The program will run for a period of 12 months in which submission of all documents and evidence are required for evaluation.

    Who can apply?

    The program is open to all nurses this year that meet the following criteria:

    • A minimum of 3 years’ experience post qualification
    • A minimum of 1 year employment within SSMC
    • A Registered Nurse with bedside care (at least 50%)
    • Not currently under development plan
    • Performance ‘meeting standards’ within MyPath
    • Intention to complete the program
    • Motivation to participate.
    • The Critical Care Fundamental Program, an ANCC accredited program, is designed for newly hired nurses in the adult critical care units

    • The program’s main goal is to provide registered nurses, working in the critical care areas, with the specialist knowledge and expertise required to care for critically ill patients. Participants are introduced to the latest advances in hemodynamic monitoring, respiratory management, ABGs interpretation, ECG rhythm interpretation, assessment and management of pain, sedation and delirium
    • From lectures to interactive games, hands-on practice, and case study analysis, the program integrates a variety of learning methodologies. Nurses who complete this three-day program are equipped with evidence-based knowledge and are trained to a competent level in ICU competencies allowing them to deliver quality care and make safe clinical decisions.

    • A cooperation between SSMC and its stakeholder ( FCHS, HCT) that has facilitated a training program for students according to subject requirements

    • It supports students at SSMC in line with SSMC’s criteria and policies.

    • What is The Nurse Interns Program?

      • A formal system-wide program providing practical experience for new graduates in an occupation or profession
      • An Internship Program for graduates to facilitate practical experience for licensing with the Department of Health, Abu Dhabi (DoH)
      • The internship is a 6-month program in an agreed specialty area outlined in the specialty specific curricula document

  • The Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) stands as an evidence for excellence in trauma nursing training globally. Designed for nurses, hospitals, and trauma centers, it provides the indispensable knowledge, analytical thinking abilities, and hands-on practice required to ensure the safety and well-being of trauma patients.


    Introduction:

    Crafted by the Emergency Nurses Association, the TNCC is a comprehensive one and a half day course. It serves to instill a robust foundation in trauma nursing, equipping nurses with both cognitive insights and psychomotor proficiencies integral to the delivery of unrivalled care to trauma patients. TNCC’s primary objective revolves around enhancing trauma patient outcomes.

    This is achieved by offering nurses a systematic Trauma Nursing Process to direct patient care, underpinned by solid trauma knowledge and skills.

    Verification of successful course culmination hinges on clearing the written examination and excelling in the Trauma Nursing Process (TNP) psychomotor skills section. Once verified, the validation stands for a commendable four years.
