Dr. Foroodi is a Canadian hospitalist and was one of the first in Canada to undertake a Hospital Medicine fellowship at McMaster University. She was at the forefront of establishing hospitalist medicine as an innovative model of care in Canadian hospitals during the early 2000’s. Her 20 years of clinical experience encompasses acute & perioperative medicine, as well as palliative care and oncology. During this time she has led transformational change through teams-based development of care standards, clinical pathways, standardized order sets and workforce planning models. Dr. Foroodi was the first Canadian Hospitalist to achieve recognition as a Fellow in Hospital Medicine through the U.S. Society of Hospital Medicine. Since joining SSMC in August 2020, Dr. Foroodi has been involved in several quality initiatives. She is a Quality Chair for the Department of Medicine and led improvement in Antimicrobial Stewardship through the introduction of a mobile application. She chairs the Clinical Ethics Committee and Palliative Care Subcommittee. Dr. Foroodi holds the rank of Assistant Clinical Professor at McMaster University and Clinical Instructor at the University of British Columbia, Canada. She continues her clinical teaching at SSMC in the Internal Medicine Program.
