With 22 years of experience, Dr. Noorbhai is a Consultant general, trauma, and laparoscopic surgeon, specialising in trauma, general, laparoscopic, oncological, and endocrine surgery including thyroid surgery. He has more than 15 years of South African experience with GI Endoscopy and Burn surgery exposure since 2005.
He completed his medical degree from the University of Witwatersrand, South Africa, which included an elective at Glasgow University, Scotland, UK. He also completed his internship and community service in South Africa, primarily in the general surgical and trauma departments, followed by two years as a Surgical Medical Officer, gaining extensive practical experience.
Dr. Noorbhai has been actively involved in teaching at King Edward Hospital and the University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN), South Africa, supervised Master of Medicine (MMed) projects, and served on the UKZN Bioethics Research Ethics Committee (the local IRB).
He also completed Masters of Business Administration (MBA) two (2) year course, twelve (12) modules with MANCOSA – Management College of South Africa.
Demonstrating his commitment to ongoing development, Dr. Noorbhai completed his Masters in Medicine degree in Surgery, focusing on Trauma research at a Level 1 Trauma center. He further enhances his expertise through regular attendance at IRCAD specialist training courses covering a range of surgical fields.
More recently, he completed a Masters in Clinical Ultrasound in Emergencies and Intensive Care. He is actively involved in various projects related to Surgical innovation and Education.
His recent commitment to SSMC also includes GI Endoscopy training, Trauma fellow teaching and training, and Trauma research resurgence. He is actively involved in Surgical Innovation and Education.
