He completed his undergraduate and postgraduate medical training at Madras Medical College and Research Institute in India before undertaking specialist training in the United Kingdom through the Mersey Deanery training programme, where he achieved a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in Nephrology and General Internal Medicine.

Dr. Chandrasekar has extensive experience managing complex kidney diseases across diverse patient populations. His clinical interests include peritoneal dialysis, acute kidney injury, haemodialysis, chronic kidney disease, cardio-renal disease, and diabetic kidney disease. He is actively involved in medical education and research and has published extensively in international nephrology journals.
