Dr. Almurtadha is UK-certified (CCT), highly qualified medical oncology consultant with extensive experience in the United Kingdom and the United Arab Emirates.

Prior to joining Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City, Dr. Almurtadha worked as a consultant medical oncologist at the reputable University Hospital Southampton NHS Trust and Salisbury District Hospital in the UK.

Dr. Almurtadha has extensive experience with systemic anti-cancer treatments such as immunotherapy, targeted treatments, and chemotherapy. Dr. Almurtadha’s expertise spans the management of different solid tumours such as gastrointestinal cancers, breast cancer, genitourinary cancer as well as rare cancer such as sarcoma and gliomas.

Dr. Almurtadha earned his M.B.Ch.B. from the University of Babylon’s College of Medicine, Iraq. His extensive experience in the oncology field includes working at renowned hospitals and trusts across the UK. He completed his speciality training in medical oncology from The Royal College of Physicians and the Association of Cancer Physicians of the United Kingdom. To further enhance his expertise, he was awarded a Postgraduate Diploma in Oncology from the prestigious Institute of Cancer Research: Royal Cancer Hospital. He also earned a Clinical M.D. in General Internal Medicine from the University of Buckingham, UK.

As a member of the esteemed regional oncology team at University Hospital Southampton NHS Trust in the UK, Dr. Almurtadha demonstrated a passion for innovation in cancer care. His active involvement in clinical trials and research activities involved leading trials as a principal investigator and co-investigator in pancreatic, liver, and bowel cancers.
