With over two decades of robust experience in the field, Dr. Al Shaban’s areas of expertise include bariatric surgery for both adults and adolescents, including revisional (corrective) bariatric procedures. He also has extensive experience in upper gastrointestinal surgery, including anti-reflux (GERD) surgeries. A distinguished medical professional, he is a member of the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (M.R.C.S.), the UAE Integrated Surgical Training Residency Program and the General Medical Council (GMC), UK. Prior to working at SSMC, he served as a consultant in general and bariatric surgery at Sheikh Khalifa Medical City (SKMC). He completed his residency in general surgery at the Royal Medical Services in Jordan.

A highly experienced researcher, he has published several articles on bariatric surgery, including a study on the practice of bariatric surgery in the Middle East.
